No loss in libido for me (not bragging, just answering!).

Maybe going sober for you, for a while, will lead to a newfound sensuality, which in turn will awaken a newfound sexuality? Not that I'm an expert or anything :)

I started a "lifestyle" change on Sept. 4, 2012. Busy at work and, with no real time or desire for exercise, I concentrated on my calories and walking. I'd lost about 30lbs by Thanksgiving. I felt really good about myself, but there was that other issue of alcohol. Between Sept. and Thanksgiving I probably drank 4-5 times (to excess, of course). Friday after Thanksgiving was my last night of drinking. I've been sober for 2mos 25days. I started exercising again--lifting and moderate cardio and have lost an additional 10lbs. I am 43 and have never felt better. I know what you mean about waking up and checking off the day as "Stone Sober." I feel as though I am in control of my life: I sleep better, feel better, have tons of energy. I can look myself in the mirror as a sober person who doesn't owe anyone an apology for taking control of my life. My wife is proud of me (non-drinker). I'm setting a better example for my kids. I have two alcoholic parents, so I have tons of excuses to be a drunk, which I was from 16-42. I know that I have a long way to go, but I love waking up sober. I love getting up early on the weekends and spending time with my family sans hangover. I also like to read about successful "quitters" who inspire me to live life alcohol free. I think the thing that I feel best about is CONTROL. I'm no longer letting booze control me--before, during, and after drinking. I don't consider myself a control freak, but I do love the self-control I've regained in the past few months. Life is short and beautiful and it goes way too fast. I think I'm finding the me I was meant to be.
