Do you drink alcohol on Mondays?
I do. Or I did. Let me explain…
Yesterday was Day 4 of my year of living sober. It was a Monday.
I used to not like Mondays much, mainly because they were so far away from the weekend. See, the weekend was when I used to do my serious drinking.
Before I decided to abstain from alcohol for a year however, it was no longer just the weekends when I’d get pretty sloshed. I used to drink almost every night. Somewhere along the line my ritual of weekend drinking had slipped further back into the week. First I was drinking on Wednesdays and Thursdays and then, before I knew it, I thought nothing of having a bottle of wine on Monday and Tuesday too.
Thus, my Year of Living Sober. I wanted to get a handle on my habit, before my habit got a hold of me. And so I’ll be facing another 51 Monday’s without a drink. My glass is empty but, strangely, I feel pretty good about it.
My name is Ben and I’m a social experiment.
Little Booze Joke 4:
Q. How many drunk surrealists does it take to change a lightbulb?
